Sample information

Sample type : tissue

Clinical method: immunohistochemistry

Expression pattern : expression

Expression elevation: The dominant staining intensity in tumor cells was scored as 0 = negative; 1 = weak (0 ~ 25%); 2 = intermediate (26 ~ 50%); 3 = strong (51 ~ 75%); or 4 = extra strong (76 ~ 100%). We calculated the dominant staining in80 tensity from five views and added the scores together.

Related information

Description: SerpinE2, a poor biomarker of endometrial cancer, promotes the proliferation and mobility of EC cells.

Funtion description: Knocked down SerpinE2 by siRNA in the HTB-111 and Ishikawa EC cell lines and analyzed the viability and mobility change using an MTT assay, an annexin V/PI apoptosis assay, a wound scratch test and a transwell assay. Silencing SerpinE2 induced cell apoptosis and reduced the migration ability.

Summary: This gene encodes a member of the serpin family of proteins, a group of proteins that inhibit serine proteases. Thrombin, urokinase, plasmin and trypsin are among the proteases that this family member can inhibit. This gene is a susceptibility gene for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and for emphysema. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2012]
